Anne Marie Woodgate, Head Pastry Chef

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but having grown up in a military family allowed Anne Marie to experience different countries and cultures around the world. Graduating from the Pastry Arts program at Holland College in Prince Edward Island encouraged her to find and explore her passion with food. After graduation, Anne Marie worked abroad at two European Michelin Star restaurants. Once back in Canada, Anne Marie joined the team at the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish. Within two years here, she worked her way up from Pastry Chef de Partie to Head Pastry Chef.

With pastry experience from four different restaurants and having been the Pastry Chef at two fine dining establishments, Anne Marie says that her desserts often draw inspiration from childhood memories. By using locally sourced ingredients, she enjoys experimenting with different flavors and textures. Anne Marie feels that Cape Breton offers both an amazing opportunity for work and recreation, and for those reasons she loves exploring all of the island’s stunning natural beauty.

Alongside the captivating views and remarkable beauty of Woodroad, Anne Marie’s hope is that her desserts are also remembered for their memorable flavours and tasteful art.
